Originally founded in 1957 as a mechanical engineering firm, Mesabi Engineering was named for the Mesabi Iron Mining Range located in northern Minnesota where the most of the target clients of the firm were located.
In 1980 the name was changed to Mesabi Control Engineering and the firm shifted from mechanical engineering to electrical and control systems engineering. Mesabi developed, and began to specialize in, the implementation of its Mix Vision Mixing & Compounding Control Systems for rubber compounding facilities. Over a 30 year relationship with the rubber industry, Mesabi has become the recognized leader in providing these systems to the rubber manufacturing industry.
The Mix Vision system architecture utilizes industry standard networking, computers, programmable logic controllers, scales, software, and database products. This structure provides an open-systems solution with readily available hardware and software.
